Actually, I nearly - very nearly - flunked grade 8 math. I wound up flunking grade 9 math, which meant that I had to take Math 10A, AKA "Dummy Math." It was humiliating, and the class was full of the most notorious reprobates and...um..."unacademic" students in grades 10 - 11. It was totally unbearable. However, I got an A+ in Math 10A and the teacher was confused as to why I was in the class. I told him I'd flunked Math 9. Second semester, into Math 10, AKA "normal math 10" I go. I can't remember what mark I got, but I did pass and not have to endure Dummy Math 11.

Hi WC,
o/t - I just noticed that you have joined Progressive Bloggers - that's great.
Sassy: yes, I have joined the Progressive Bloggers. You don't happen to have a blog, do you? ;)
I have always felt math impaired myself, therefor developed quite a case of "math anxiety." (Yes, that is a true syndrome that they have counseling available at the local Jr. College to help us overcome!) I think it might be lousy teachers. (One in high school threw a ruler at me, it hit me, and I walked out of class - therefore was sent to the principal's office - oh it was a mess) I later took Algebra going back to college - I had to work very hard as I didn't have any in high school and live in the lab, but I had a fabulous teacher and, like you, got a really high grade. I found a beauty in algebra and wouldn't mind going on with it....thanks to a teacher that could teach.
I flunked math 10 but was given a grace pass to math 11a. Got a B there. Luckily didn't do nursing until just after 4 years post high school so they didn't look at my math grades and i had a chance to figure it out and make a better impression! lol
