Con Spam-a-Lot: Jackpot!

Today, my ongoing battle against the Conservative mailbox spam campaign took a pleasant turn: the spam I received today was from Chuck Strahl, our current minister of Indian Affairs, Harper henchman, and general wanker. I've been wanting to give this guy a piece of my mind for a long time, so in addition to the flier I got in my mailbox today, I dug around in the post office's recycling bin and took out two additional pieces of Con spam, so I could send off three pieces of my mind!

Before I post the pictures, however, I would like to alert everyone to this new Facebook group that a citizen started up to combat this Conservative pain in the ass. Thanks to Chrystal Ocean for the heads up!

And now for my responses to today's spam!

i haven't followed the whole thread of the spam campaign, but I've heard other people complaining about flyers as well. I heard a news item that said the Conservative party is using such techniques to recruit. I'm so glad you're mailing them your point of view.

SP, they are using our tax money to send Conservative partisan propaganda to ridings where they don't have MPs. The money they are using is supposed to be for MPs to write their constituents, with at most 10% of the riding's total population giving a magic number to send fliers elsewhere they may be applicable.

Hey there! I stumbled upon your blog from Facebook. Glad to see I'm not the only one who's fed up with the Cons' propaganda. When I saw the first flyer in the mailbox I thought about filling in my own comments and mailing it back, but never did and every flyer since has just been recycled. I found one that's still kicking around the house and will be following your lead and mailing it back with my opinion of this Conservative propaganda scheme.

I found it interesting that people in non-Conservative ridings were getting these too, but now I understand why thanks to your blog. I live in Calgary so just assumed this shit was only being mailed out to those of us unfortunate enough to have a Con for an MP. I used to live in Ron Cannon's riding and IMO he's just as sleazy as you alluded to in one of your posts.

On a completely unrelated note, I love the anti-2010 button. Is that an image you made? Do you mind if I use it on my blog?

Curtis: welcome, and thanks for your comment.

My guess that now that elections are being rumoured, non-Con ridings are going to be particularly targeted. I live in an NDP riding have have been getting these for a looooong time. After all, sending them to other Con ridings would be just preaching to the choir, right? Also notice that now that an election might be happening soon, the format of the mailer has changed to include a mock-ballot on the mail-in portion. That is a newer thing and not an accident, I'm sure.

Is Ron Cannan sleazy? I'm not surprised but his web site doesn't do him any favours.

Please feel free to steal the Anti-2010 button and encourage others to steal it too!
